Harvest Reminders
We will be celebrating autumn with our child led Harvest Assemblies this Friday, 16th October.
The times for each assembly are:
9.00-9.30: Years 3 and 4
9.50-10.20: Years 5 and 6
We would like to invite you to join us at either or both of these assemblies. FAB will provide refreshments.
As in past years, we will be making up food parcels to take to the Lunch Club at the Methodist Church. The remaining produce will be collected by Guildford Borough Council, who are always grateful for donations to support some of the more vulnerable members of our town.
We would be delighted if you are able to donate some items, particularly if pupils could bring these in on Thursday 15th or Friday 16th October to be displayed at the assemblies.
Suggested items are:
· Tins (suitable for 1-2 servings)
· Sugar, tea, coffee
· Treats like sweets, biscuits and cakes
If you have any shoe boxes lying around, please could we have them for food parcels after our harvest celebration. There is no need for them to be decorated. If you know of anyone who would appreciate receiving one, please do let us know.
As well as bringing in tins of food for local people for Harvest, we will be having a collection at the end of the assemblies and funds raised will be sent to a charity called 'Toilet Twinning', for poor communities to have clean water, basic toilets and to learn about hygiene. More info is available at info@toilettwinning.org

That's diarrhoea backwards!! Just one of the words our children were spelling today after Sir Linkalot taught us some great tricks to use when learning!
Great fun was had by all and we all learnt something new. It was lovely to hear all the children, no matter what age or ability, spelling some very tricky words - I hope they've tested you!!
Thank you to all the parents who attended the sessions, I hope you enjoyed it!!

Reminder - Thinkalink! It's a fun and easy way to remember things.
Just to remind you that tomorrow (Wednesday) Andy Salmon (aka Sir Linkalot) from Thinkalink will be spending a day at the school to introduce all the children and teachers to the world of 'Linking' - a fun and easy way to remember any fact, whether it be the spelling of a tricky word, a Times Table or Maths formula, an Historical Date/Event, a Geographical location, a Science process or the meaning of a word whether it be English or French or another language.
You are invited to watch your child's/children's session so you can pick up some extremely handy and innovative tips and tricks which you'll be able to implement at home. For those that can't make it throughout the day, there will be a 40 minute after-school parents presentation which you are also invited to (your children are welcome to attend). Please see attached the invitation which includes the timings for the day.
The British Dyslexia Association thinks his spelling technique 'Letter Linking' is groundbreaking.
If you can make it, then you are in for a treat!

Friends Association of Bushy / PTA AGM
Friends Association of Bushy / PTA AGM
Thursday 24th September 7pm at the School
Just a friendly reminder that it's the FAB AGM next week, which will be followed by the first planning meeting of this academic year. Please feel free to join all or part of the meeting. We are fortunate that many of our supporters and reps from last year are willing to continue helping again this year, however as everyone is so busy there have been requests to share more of the roles and responsibilities. It would be great to see some new faces and receive any new ideas for events.
So if you are willing to spare some time getting involved in FAB, whether taking on a class rep role or helping with an event, it is a great way to contribute to the school community and to meet with other parents.
If you cannot make the meeting but can contribute or would like to be more involved please let me know, as all time and help is appreciated.
Looking forward to seeing you at our meeting on the 24th
Best regards
Jo Rowland
